Viewer Options
- Viewer Selection (global setting)
GDE 1.9.5+ offers two options for the viewer. The “Enhanced Viewer” utilizes a proxy function to bypass existing bugs in cookie handling that break the Google viewer in most modern versions of Internet Explorer (more info). This proxy also enables the toolbar customization described below. The “Google Standard Viewer” can be enabled instead if you experience problems with the Enhanced Viewer.
- Default Size (global setting with individual override)
This setting allows you to set the default width and height of the embedded viewer.
To override this setting for an individual viewer instance, add width= and height= attributes to your particular item’s shortcode. Full number values are treated as pixels (e.g., width="300" sets an individual viewer instance to 300px wide). Percent values are also supported (e.g., width="95%").
- Default Language (global setting with individual override)
This setting allows you to set the default language of the viewer itself. This affects the tooltip descriptions on the viewer toolbar, the text on the full page view, and the order of the toolbar buttons for left-to-right languages.
To override this setting for an individual instance, add the lang= attribute to the item’s shortcode. Set the value to the ISO 639-1 Language Code for your desired language (e.g., lang="es" sets one viewer instance to Spanish). Note that only languages supported by Google Docs are supported by Google Docs Viewer.
- Hide Toolbar Buttons (global setting)
Check the boxes for toolbar buttons you wish to hide (remove) from the viewer toolbar. Note that this function requires the Enhanced Viewer option (described above). With the Google Standard Viewer selected, this option may not be visible and will be ignored.
