Download Link Options

  • Display the download link by default (global setting with override)

This setting lets you hide or show the download link by default on all instances of the viewer. To show the link on an individual instance with this option deselected, add the save= attribute to the individual item’s shortcode, with a value of 1 to show the link and 0 to hide it (e.g., save="1" will show the download link on an individual instance, even if the link is off globally by default).

  • Only display download link to logged in users (global setting)

This setting allows you to display the download link only if the user has logged in to your site. If selected, the download link will not appear to anonymous users regardless of the above setting.

  • Link Text (global setting)

This setting allows you to customize the text displayed as the download link. A few codes can be inserted to dynamically change the download link text:

%FN – insert the filename
%FT – insert the file type (PDF, PPT, etc.)
%FS – insert the file size

Note: This may be most useful for non-English sites, where you can enter the download text in your own language.

  • Link Position (global setting)

Use this setting to display the download link either above or below the embedded viewer (when link is visible).

  • Link Behavior (global setting)

By default (and when set to Browser Default), the download link points directly to the file and is handled according to browser settings – usually, this means a PDF will view in the browser’s internal viewer, and a PPT will prompt the user to download the file, etc. To override this behavior you can choose one of the following options:

Force Download – Prompt the user to download the PDF file (rather than load in their internal viewer, if installed)

Force Download (Mask URL) – Does the same thing as Force Download, only using TinyURL to shrink/obscure the true address to the file. Note, this is not a high security option, but it may be useful in some cases.
