Advanced Options

Click the plus sign [+] to show these settings. These are additional options, primarily for troubleshooting purposes.

  • Disable editor integration (global setting)

This setting affects the admin area of WordPress for a currently logged in administrator only. When selected, GDE will not integrate with the Visual and HTML editors. Use this option only if you experience problems with the editor integration or if you plan to hand-code all of the shortcodes yourself.

  • Disable internal error checking (global setting with override)

This setting is useful for troubleshooting files that do not seem to embed properly for no known reason. Some servers do not support this plugin’s best attempts at error checking, but can still be accessed. Checking this box bypasses all internal error checking, passing the file directly to the viewer. This is not recommended, as problematic files can be exempted from internal error checking on an individual basis by adding force="1" to the individual instance’s shortcode.

  • Disable caching (frequently overwritten files) (global setting with override)

This setting is useful if the majority of the files you embed are updated (with the same filename and location) on a regular basis. This will “force” the Google viewer to pull the most recent version of the file. This is usually not necessary and can minimally increase page load time. To disable caching on individual files rather than globally, leave this option unchecked and add cache="0" to the individual instance’s shortcode.

  • Disable beta version notifications (global setting)

This setting affects the admin area of WordPress for a currently logged in administrator only. Select this option to opt out of receiving notifications in your plug-in list when a beta version is released (more info).
